Adaptation Demos

Adaptation enables rods and cones to function over a broad range of illumination. Views of Downtown Seattle under two different illumination coniditions that differ by well over 10,000 fold.

Afterimages demonstrate adaptation. Stare at the white dot in the center for 20 seconds. While continuing to stare at the dot move the cursor over the image. Light adaptation makes the white panels appear colored.
