Janxin Leu, PhD
I received a joint BA/MA in Psychology from Stanford University, and later served as a research fellow at Peking University in Beijing, China. I received my Ph.D in social psychology along with a certificate of training in cultural anthropology from the University of Michigan in 2004. As a Robert Wood Johnson Health & Society fellow at UC Berkeley and UC San Francisco, I studied the role of social status (i.e., race, socioeconomic status) on health in diverse communities.

In my spare time, I helped develop the first Chinese American bilingual, bicultural preschool television show, "Ni hao, Kai-lan." produced by Nickelodeon. The show features the first Asian American cartoon main character! I also work with my family to address illiteracy in rural China through grass-roots initiatives (www.esscare.org).

Kelly Koo (Adult Clinical)
I received my bachelor's degree in psychology and Asian American Studies from UC Berkeley in May 2003 and began my graduate training in the clinical psychology doctorate program here at the University of Washington in 2005. My primary research interests include the study of sexual victimization in Asian American females (focusing on culturally-based variables such as loss-of-face, acculturation, and ethnic identity) and sexual stereotypes of this group as well. I am also interested in health psychology and positive psychology. Generally, I emphasize researching mental health in minority populations and incorporating cultural factors into mainstream psychological theories and interventions. Ultimately, I would like my research and practice to help advance the field of Asian American psychology and contribute to the Asian American community as well.

Jennifer Wang (Social/Personality Area)
In a general sense, I'm interested in culture and emotion, immigrant psychology, and how context and social experience inform the perception of discrimination among Asian Americans. In my spare time, I would like to hang out with my family and friends and practice a Japanese fencing-like art called kendo. I have competed at the national level and currently practice with the Cascade Kendo Kai in Mercer Island. Here is a link to my website.
