Searching the Library Catalog : Finding Books and Journals at the UW Libraries
The Libraries Catalog contains all of the books, journals, and other materials that the University of Washington Libraries own. You may search by title, author, keyword, or subject. Be careful - subjects of journals are not included in the Catalog. Also, you cannot search for the author or title of an article (for this we use library databases); rather, you must search for the source/journal in which the article appears. The library subscribes to databases that let you search for articles in journals and newspapers. These databases are UW Restricted
- Expanded Academic Index - Provides indexing and abstracting for approximately 1,500 scholarly and general interest periodicals, covering all major fields of study in the humanities, social sciences, and science and technology.
- National Newspapers - This newspaper database provides coverage of major newspapers, including the New York times, Washington post, Los Angeles times, Christian Science monitor, USA today, Boston globe and the Atlanta journal/constitution.
- Research Library Complete - Indexing and full text for a basic collection of general-interest, humanities, social science and science periodicals and newspapers; 1986 to present. Divided into Newspapers and periodicals sections.
- Washington State Newsstand - Indexing and full text from several Washington newspapers, including the Seattle times, Seattle post-intelligencer, Puget Sound business journal, Spokane spokesman review, Tacoma news tribune, and Vancouver columbian.
