Reading Assignments and prep work for class:

Topic order is being changed relative to the Syllabus in order to bring the transition metal section to class the week before you have the related experiment.  Also, note that we are studying Chapter 19 of Zumdahl; the original syllabus had a typo indicating ch 20 for transition metal chemistry.

• For Monday, May 24
• To prepare, read Zumdahl, Ch 19, pp 933-940; 946-952; and 958-966.
• Prepare Hanson Activity #41.  Read the information, study the model, work the key questions 1-8 read the next information section, and be prepared to work the exercises with your partners. 
• Prepare Hanson Activity #42.  Read the information, study the model, work the key questions 1-5. Read the next “information” and complete the “Got It.”  Be prepared to complete the exercises and problems.
• To facilitate group discussion, communicate with your group before class to see that you understand these questions.  If you have questions you cannot answer, please post them either to the bulletin board:

o You may also, of course, send me questions about the material.  I will typically respond by posting the question and my followup to the class listserve or bulletin board.  If your group has a question, surely others do as well.

o The daily quiz on May 24 will draw upon the key Questions of Hanson 41 and closely related material in Zumdahl 19.

• For Wednesday, May 26
• Prepare only Models 1 and 2 of Hanson 43.  Answer key questions 1-7  before class
• The daily quiz on May 26 will draw upon the Key Questions 1-7of Hason 43, Models 1-2.
• Model 3 will be done in class.

After Classes:  Always complete the exercises and problems for the active learning exercise(s) if you did not get them finished in class.  It is important to complete these as they will be checked at the exams  Remember to go back over every activity we have done and complete the problems and exercises.  Be sure to show work and logic or credit will not be given.

Written Homework :  Homework HW6 will be due electronically on  May 29.
