BES 311 Homework #1

1. For Week 1:

· Read and study Chapter 1 of Baird.

· Find out what you can about EDEN Bioscience Corp in Bothell which is cited on page 60 as a green chemistry award winner. EDEN, its award, and harpin technology in general.

2. For Week 2:

· Read Paper by de Gruijl et al. Take notes in your journal as you read the paper. Be prepared to discuss the health effects of ozone depletion. Note the connection between climate change, ozone depletion, and health.

· Read and study Chapter 2 of Baird

3. Problem Set #1 will be due on Saturday, April 8; final submission of the homework set is to be accomplished electronically. Start early enough so that we can discuss difficulties with these problems at our meeting in Week 2 prior to the due date.
