Data Description:

flag_r1, flag_r2, pm_match, pm_l, pm_b, pm_err - set to zero if not given

u, g, r, i, z, J, H, K, uerr, gerr, rerr, ierr, zerr, Jerr, Herr, Kerr - color bands are set to 999.9 and their respective errors are set to 9999.9 if the corresponding error is greater than 0.5 (or 1.5 for the u-band)

a, b, c, ellchi, elldf - error ellipse parameters (z=Ax^2+Bxy+Cy^2 where x spans models and y spans A_r). ellchi is the chi^2-value of the ellipse fit and elldf is the number of points in the ellipse. All are set to 9999 if a, b, c, or ellchi are over 1000 or elldf is over 30000. All set to 0 if bchi2 is over 200.

dist - distance to star in parsecs is calculated when intrinsic g-i is between 0.2 and 4 with an error less than 0.5, otherwise set to -1. Distance is computed using eqs. A2, A3 and A7 in Ivezić et al. 2008, for [Fe/H]=-0.4.

Mr = -0.14 + 14.32*gi -12.97*gi^2 + 6.127*gi^3 -1.267*gi^4 + 0.0967*gi^5

d = 10^(r - Mr - bar + 5)

The catalogs with data for about 23 million stars are distributed as a compressed (gzip) tar archive (3.6 GB, expands to 15 GB) (download).

This archive (SDSS2MASSfixedRv.tar.gz) contains 15 data files that correspond to different parts of the sky, according to table below. We limited the size of each file to fewer than 10 million stars. The first ten files are low-latitude SEGUE strips (limited to |b|<30 deg), and include about 10 million stars. The northern high-latitude sky (b >+30 deg) contains data for about 9 million stars.

The archive with files in fits format can be downloaded from here.
