Thorpe Mountain, off I90 near Roslyn. Hike with Guenter and Annemiek. Weather cloudy with sunbreaks, temperature in the 60-70's. Abundant alpine flowers and nice views of Mount Stuart and Mount Daniel at the top. Scattered 36 g to the southeast.

Discovery Park, Magnolia, Seattle. Not a site that Steffi specified but the park is one of our favorite running grounds since we came to Seattle. She will enjoy the views of Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains and, on a good day, Mount Rainier in the distance. Temperature in the 80's. Scattered 36 g to the west.

Sunday, June 19, 2005 Smith Cove Park, Magnolia, Seattle. This is the location of our wedding on May 11, 2001 and I had to bring some ashes here. Views of Alki beach, Elliot Bay and, of course, our willow tree. Temperature in the 80's. Scattered 44 g to the southwest.

Saturday, June 25, 2005
McClellan Butte, off I90 west of Snoqualmie Pass. Hike with Miga, Joel and Miguel. Weather cloudy with some sunbreaks, temperature in the 60's. Summit mostly in clouds. When it clears up, however, the views of Mount Rainier, the Olympic and Cascade Mountains will be spectacular. Scattered 44 g to the southeast.

Saturday, July 9, 2005 Barclay and Eagle Lakes, off Hwy 2 west of Stevens Pass. Hike with Miga and Miguel. Scattered clouds with plenty of sunshine, temperature in the 60's. Nice views of Mount Townsend and Eagle Lake and abundant wild flowers including Tiger Lilies. Scattered 44 g to the south.

Hannegan Pass & Peak, off Hwy 542 east from Glacier in the Mount Baker area. Hike with Guenter, Sybille & Jack. Starting with rain turning to scattered clouds and then sunshine, temperature in the 60-70's. Nice views and many wildflowers including Columbine and Thistle. Scattered 72 g to the northeast on Hannegan Peak.

Sunday, July 17, 2005 Mount Rainier National Park, Paradise. We always loved this park and hiked on many of its trails together. Guenter, Sybille & Jack and I hike up to a snowfield to train some mountaineering techniques. A perfect day with just sunshine, temperature in the 80's. Great views of Mount Adams, Mount St. Helens and Mount Hood. The meadows of wildflowers are unbelievable.  Scattered 72 g to the south in a sea of flowers.

Saturday, July 30, 2005 Coleman Glacier at Mount Baker, off Hwy 542 east from Glacier. Ice climbing with Guenter, Sybille & Jack, and our guide Scott. A new experience and very fun, Steffi would have loved it. Temperature in the 70's on the glacier. Perfect views of Mount Baker towering right above us. Scattered 72 g to the northwest on the glacier.

Saturday, August 6, 2005 Gothic Basin on the Mountain Loop Hwy, east of Everett. Temperature in the 80's. Hike by myself. I don't mind being by myself on this hike, it is emotional, 3 months have past, a quarter year. Steffi and I loved this one very much. The last time I was here was on August 14, 2004, together with Steffi. I rest at the same spots we used to rest. Scattered 72 g to the south, the wind picked up the ashes, flying high to the east.

Sunday, August 14, 2005 Goat Rocks Wilderness, south of Mount Rainier, off Hwy 12. Backpacking with Guenter & Annemiek, and Ross. A gorgeous weekend with temperatures in the 90's. Steffi and I went to the Goat Rocks two time and we loved it. We always saw Mountain Goats, so this time. I scattered 72 g to the northwest on the summit of Old Snowy Mountain, a respectable place with spectacular views.

Saturday, August 20, 2005
Vashon Island, one of our favorite bike rides. This time I ride by myself. A sunny late August day with blue skies and temperatures in the 70-80's. I scattered 72 g to the east on the beaches of Point Robinson Park.

Sunday, August 21, 2005 Bainbridge Island, again one of our favorite bike rides. Last time, we were here together on May 8, 2004. This time I am by myself. Another sunny August day with the smell of approaching fall in the air. Temperatures in the 70-80's. I scattered 72 g to the east on the beaches of Fay-Bainbridge State Park.

Saturday, September 3, 2005 Rachel & Rampart Lakes, off I90 east of Snoqualmie Pass. Hike with Jutta & Axel, our friends from my hometown in Germany. Weather cloudy with some sunbreaks, temperature in the upper 60's. The Lakes look beautiful and peaceful in late summer. Last time, Steffi and I were here together on July 31, 2004. Scattered 72 g to the west, the ashes blowing across the Rampart Lakes.

Saturday, September 24, 2005 Kautz Creek, Mirror Lakes in Mount Rainier National Park. One of our favorite hikes in the park. A sunny day in early fall, temperature in the upper 60's at lower elevation, much cooler up in the meadows with temperatures in the 50's. Great views of Mount Rainier, Mount Adams, Mount St. Helens (steaming!) and Mount Hood. The meadows around the cabin show fall colors.  Scattered 72 g to the north at Mirror Lakes.

Saturday, September 16, 2006 Colchuk and Stuart Lakes, off Icicle Creek Road near Leavenworth. Sixteen months and 10 days have passed and today I scatter the rest of Steffi's ashes by these beautiful lakes. Winter comes early, snow fell the day before and it is cold up at the lakes. Scattered her ashes to the south.
