I have also posted the ASCII files to some archives and hopefully they should be available very soon. I will also be posting the MSDOS version of files (i.e. the originals given to me by Islamic Computing Centre London) to AMASS, SNAKE and MSDOS-UMICH archives. I will keep you posted. Note: The Unix (txt) and Macintosh versions are same, except that the Mac versions are formated in MS Word 5.1, so either would do for uploading. For PCs the seperate translations by Pickthal and Yousuf Ali are the same as above so I wont upload them seperately. The Arabic versions (i.e. the Quran in Arabic and the combined version with translations) for PCs is different so I have uploaded it in zip format. So if you want files for PCs load the zip files for Arabic versions and plain txt files for the translations. The ftp servers with archived files are given below, let me know if you cant manage to ftp or you dont have access to ftp. SNAKE archive has the Unix plain text (can also be used in Macintosh, and seperate translation files can also be used for PCs) , versions of all files in Quran set: i.e translations by Pickthal and Yousuf Ali, Arabic quran, and Combined Quran with translations. To get these files, ftp to snake.mcs.kent.edu and cd to pub/islam. AMASS archive has the Combined Arabic Quran and translations in Plain text format (for Unix and Macintosh), Translations by Y. Ali and Pickthal. To get them, ftp to cs.bu.edu and cd to amass/quran. Note: The DOS version is still not there, due to space shortage. INFO-MAC archive has the Macintosh version of the combined Arabic and English translation of Quran. To get it, ftp to sumex-aim.stanford.edu and cd to info-mac/misc. The file is called something 'quran...' MAC-UMICH same as above (though I tried posting the whole set). To get access, ftp to archive.umich.edu and cd to mac/misc/foreignlang . MSDOS-UMICH Combined version of Quran in Arabic and its translations. in zip format, you will need the comercial versions of Arabic MS-DOS or Al-Sakhar to read the Arabic (not in my hands!). To get access, ftp to archive.umich.edu and cd to msdos/foreign_lang/arabic (I am not to sure because they havent yet sorted out the path). Very soon I will let you know about the other ftp servers which have the submited files. Thanks for your interest.
