Saving commands

The log file described in the previous section stores your commands and Stata's replies. You can also create a file that contains only your commands. This file can then be edited and fed back to Stata to repeat your analyses. It is very useful to save important analyses and data modification commands so that you can go back and find out exactly what you did, months or years later. If you don't make a habit of doing this you will eventually regret it.

The Review window contains a list of all the commands you have typed. If you click on the top left corner of this window you will find a menu. Selecting the option Save Review Contents will allow you to save this list of commands. You can repeat the commands in the future by using the do command in Stata.
