The objective of assigning exercises is to provide an opportunity
for students to apply the methods introduced in the course.  The exercises 
are collected and feedback is given.  Exercises will be scored using
the following scale:


10   Exemplary insight into the problems posed by the data analysis.  Answers
     are clear and well-explained in fine detail.

9    Good insight into the problems posed by the analysis.  Some thought is 
     given to the best approach, with only a few missing details.

8    An acceptable approach to the data analysis with some obvious errors 
     or missing details.

7    Major problems with the data analysis.  Important details are missing.

6    An incomplete analysis.  Portions of the exercises are not complete, or 
     the techniques used in the analysis are inappropriate.

5    Very little effort put into the analysis.
