***Note:

The Karnofsky score measures patient performance of activities of daily living.
The score has proven useful not only to follow the course of the illness 
(usually progressive deficit and ultimately death), but also a 
prognosticator:  patients with the highest (best) Karnofsky scores at the 
time of tumor diagnosis have the best survival and quality of life over 
the course of their illness.
