Information for SpeakersGeneral | Audience | Presentation | Visual Aids | The Shorelines and Coastal Planners Group meetings are informal, quarterly, professional development seminars designed primarily for local government shoreline planners and administrators. Depending on the meeting theme, varying proportions of the audience will include staff from state resource management agencies, port districts, or other entities. Attendance runs from 40 to 80 persons. You can expect your audience to have a general familiarity with the topic of your presentation, though there might well be a few neophytes and some experts present. On policy matters, expect a higher proportion of 'experts' in the audience, and with technical or scientific presentations a lower proportion of 'experts.' Please design your presentation to use approximately 2/3 to 3/4 of your time for presentation, with the remainder available for questions and clarifications. Most meetings include a general 'round-table' discussion at the close of the day.
If you can attend the entire meeting, including the closing round table, we'd be very appreciative of that. But, we realize that many of you cannot do that. Please just let us know what we can expect.
We are generally able to accommodate most any visual aid equipment needs. PowerPoint presentations remain a challenge, however. If you prefer to use a Power Point presentation please choose one of three means:
1. Bring your PowerPoint presentation file on CD-ROM to be run on our lap top through our projector. Advantages: you only need to bring a CD-ROM. Disadvantage: you may be surprised at the color rendition of your presentation by our projector, or the rendering of fonts and bullet points by our lap top.
We very much discourage the idea of connecting your lap top to our projector. It's quite possible that the version of Windows on your lap top will lack the necessary drivers to attach to and run our projector. |
