Davida Teller and Michael Rudd: Neural
Correlates of Consciousness (NCC)
Abstract
The study of consciousness is back
in fashion. In neurobiological circles, the question is being asked, what neurons
or neural states provide the neural correlates of visual consciousness? Some
scientists (e.g. Crick and Koch, 1998, Cerebral Cortex 8: 97-107) argue that
this question is subject to empirical study. In this talk we will examine the
best paradigms being put forward as research strategies for locating the NCC.
