Climate Wizard Custom Analysis Tool

Climate Wizard Custom Analysis tool was designed for use by a wide range of users. Users can either select the area of interest to analyze from a set of provided base data layers (administrative and biological), they can upload an Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Shapefile, or can draw directly on the web-map interface. The large datasets of future climate change projections are stored and analyzed remotely on powerful computers located on the Amazon Cloud, users of the tool do not need to have fast computers or expensive software, but simply need access to the internet. The analysis results and products are then available for downloading or for viewing using a map-based website.

After entering the area of interest to analyze, users then enter information about what climate change analysis to run including; (1) specifying a time period between 1901-2099; (2) specifying a temporal resolution (annual, seasonal, or monthly); and (3) specifying a set of climate variables the user is interested in analyzing (precipitation, minimum temperature, maximum temperature, mean temperature).

 

Interactive Results Web Page

Once an analysis is run, a results web page is then displayed with the results dynamically tailored to the specific analysis conducted. If multiple areas are analyzed, they can each be viewed in the results web page by selecting areas from a pull-down menu.

Useful Products Can be Downloaded

The maps can be downloaded as graphics files for use in presentations, reports, and publications. Tables can be downloaded that summarize the climate-change results for each analysis area. This information can be used in further analysis, as desired.
