OBO Import Tab

The OBO Import Tab is designed to work with the file format defined by OBO Sourceforge:

• The tab widget takes as input an OBO format file, an output ontology, an error file, and a choice of creating inverse slots by default.
• Slots are created for each of the "relationships" in the OBO file.
• The file will be imported into the current ontology unless otherwise specified.
• The root of the ontology is, by definition, the term whose ID is numerically equal to zero (e.g. "0000000"). Those terms which are not the root and which do not have is-a parents are initially put into a class called "Unclassified Terms".
• A class called "Generic Metaclass" is created by default, and serves as the metaclass for all classes in the ontology.

These plug-ins are under active development until June, 2005. We will take suggestions and answer questions about them via email, and try to fix bugs as time permits. After this point, it is unlikely that this widget will be supported.

The OBO Import Tab Widget and source code (like Protégé) are freely available under the open source Mozilla Public License.
