The Eligibility Screening Tab

The Eligibility Screening tab is a tab plug-in that finds a set of clinical trial protocols in breast cancer for which a patient might be eligible.

This plug-in uses the Physician's Data Query (PDQ) database of clinical trial protocols. The plug-in includes a knowledge base of 182 breast cancer protocols, with plain text eligibility criteria, as well as a set of simplified rules about eligibility. The plug-in has two halves: On the left side, it solicits the user for a set of simple data about a breast cancer patient. Then, on the right side, the patient data is used to filter the set of clinical trial protocols, and displays a smaller set of protocols for which the patient might actually be eligible for enrollment.

This plug-in was built as a demonstration project from 1998-2000. It has never been used in a real clinical setting (and many of the protocols are now closed or otherwise out-of-date). This plug-in is stable: no further development is expected.
