The 1997 Gordon Conference on Enzymes, Co-enzymes, and Metabolic Pathways was
organized by Mike Gelb and Carol Fierke. It was attended by nearly 140 scientists
from US, Europe, and Japan. The meeting is held every summer and focuses on mechanistic
mechanistic enzymology, the discovery of new enzymatic processes, and the application of
enzymology to the development of numerous therapeutic agents that are the major products
of the pharmaceutical industry for treating human and animal diseases.
