Please, turn in the sheets you will be given only. Write the solutions to the problems in the blank space below the questions, and, if needed, use the back. You can use scratch paper for your work, but do not turn it in.
This exam is partially "open notes": you can bring a double-sided sheet of notes of your choice. You can also use a scientific calculator (but not a computer or other device capable of storing general information, or, worse, of communicating with third parties). Note that, strictly speaking, a calculator is not needed, since the "real" answer to a problem would be the formula that you would plug into your calculator to come up with a concrete number,
Show all your work in the problem section, and explain how you reached your conclusions. This is absolutely necessary if you want to get full credit for your correct answers, and partial credit if you make a minor mistake at some point.
Remember to write in your name and ID. In a Midterm Exam, it is usually possible to recover from anonymous submissions, but it is a huge hassle for everybody, and is insanely easy to avoid. In our last Exam, given the extremely tight deadline for grade submission (especially in the Summer Quarter), an anonymous submission will, regrettably, have to be discarded without further notice or comment.
