Predicting the Vortex Viscosity of a Ferrofluid Karen Pukalo The vortex viscosity of a ferrofluid is calculated using a two-dimensional approach using Comsol Multiphysics to perform the numerical calculations. This approach is a simplification of one used Feng, et al., where the ratio of vortex viscosity and the shear viscosity of plain fluid is a function of the volume fraction of the ferrofluid.
