Oxidation is (according to WBM2000) the act or process of oxidizing. Burning is one kind of oxidation.
Now, what goes on in a wood stove when it's being used? Why, you're burning wood. What has to be in the stove besides wood? You can't see it, because it also is a colorless gas. It is air, or more specifically, oxygen!! And what is a fire? It is a chemical reaction we could call 'wood oxidation' although most people would call it 'combustion.'
