Reaction Rate

Question: Since the reaction rate of ammonia oxidation is proportional to the amount of ammonia consumed, if the reaction rate is increased, will the ammonia concentrations at the outlet be higher, lower, or no effect?

Higher and No effect

Lower

As can be seen in the contour plots below, while the figures may look similar for the two reaction rates, the legend states that the minimum ammonia concentration for rate=3e5 (left figure) is 0.24312, while the minimum ammonia concentration for rate=9e5 (right figure) is 0.00047727, about 500x lower!!!

Comparing line plots of the channel outlet ammonia concentrations also clearly demonstrates that increasing reaction rate increases consumption of ammonia, thus decreasing the final ammonia concentrations. As before, rate=3e5 is on the left, rate=9e5 is on the right.
