Because the Web is our dominant media space, the design of websites has vast implications. Therefore, the ways in which websites present extended text (on a variety of digital devices) strongly influence what and how we read. In this research group we will review the background issues regarding changes in literacy, survey the standard and non-standard ways in which text and narrated video are presented in digital media, try to project what designs can promote desirable forms of literacy, and protoype our own designs.
