Frank Artale

Currently, Frank Artale is active advisor to emerging software companies and is a member of the venture development team at Accel Partners.

 

Most recently, he was a founder of and investor in Therion Software. Therion was conceived and executed as a structured spin-in with Brocade Communications. The project ran from conception to completed acquisition in 14 months culminating with the pre-planned acquisition by Brocade.

 

In February 2002,  Mr. Artale was a founder and CEO of Consera Software in Redmond, WA. He was active in all aspects of company operations.  His specific responsibilities include management of business operations, customers, partners, and investors. In February of 2004,  Consera was acquired by HP.

 

Before founding Consera, Frank was an executive at VERITAS Software. As vice president of the Windows Solutions Group for VERITAS availability products at VERITAS Software, he oversaw overall product strategy of the Windows targeted availability solutions. 

 

Frank was hired as vice president of the Windows business unit at VERITAS Software in July 2000 and subsequently named vice president of the Windows Solution Group at in October 2001.  Prior to this position, he was the general manager in the Windows 2000 group at Microsoft Corporation. 

 

Frank’s nine-year career at Microsoft Corporation included responsibility in the areas of product development and sales - his accomplishments and experience while at Microsoft were  extensive and varied.. Mr. Artale was a strategic member of the initial team of professional services architects deployed in New York City. He was involved in the initiation of the customer adoption drive for Windows NT in Microsoft's Northeast Region and  also led a successful sales effort targeted at the standardization of "Wall Street's" desktops on the Windows NT Workstation.  For his efforts on Windows NT adoption, Frank received the Microsoft Chairman’s Award for Top U.S. Member of Technical Staff in 1993 and was also named the top Systems Engineer in the same year.

 

Additionally, during his time at Microsoft, Frank served as director of program management for Windows NT  where he organized the overall feature set research for Windows 2000 Professional and defined the Intellimirror feature set in Windows 2000.   He was promoted to general manager for all systems management during the Windows 2000 project and became a member of the Windows 2000 "ship" team.

 

Prior to joining Microsoft, Frank was a principal at FD Consulting, Inc., NY () where he led the design and engineering efforts for trader workstation products He began his career as a programmer analyst, working on retail brokerage systems, at the Monchik-Weber Corporation, NY. 

 

Currently, Frank is is Chairman of Realm Systems and was recently Chairman of Rendition Networks (sold to Opsware in January 2005).  He is an advisor to Centrify Software and Zenprise.

 

Frank graduated from Monsignor Farrell High School in 1983 and attended the Polytechnic Institute of New York before joining Monchik-Weber Corporation in 1984.
