Definitions of topic and focus
In weeks three and four, we will be contrasting different
authors' perspectives on topic and focus. Please be prepared
to answer the following questions about your readings:
- How is topic/focus defined?
- What, if any, subtypes of topic/focus are enumerated?
- What are tests for topic/focus?
- How is topic/foucs represented (and in what level of representation)?
- How is topic/focus grammatically realized?
