Homeworks and Fridays

This is a regular class! There will be homework.
We will discuss homeworks one day each week, probably Fridays.
Some homeworks will be graded. All students will be expected to present some bit of their homework in the class.

Homework 1: for discussion 10/1.
This one will not be graded. We will just discuss it in class, Friday 10/1. You will present solutions to some of Problems 2 , from the elementary genetics notes referred to on the course home page. Those who know this stuff should be able to zip through the lot. Those less familiar with the words, focus on numbers 2,3,7,9,11.

Homework 2: for discussion 10/8
For registered students; this one you should give in for grading, after the class on 10/8.

No homework for 10/15, but please get yourself a hilbert.ms account for computing in this class.
Also, before October 22, please run the basic tests described in computing set-up

Homework 3: due 10/22
This is now complete, but not guaranteed -- if some people look at it by 10/18, we could get any errors out of it by 10/22.

Homework 4: No homework exercises for 10/29, but everyone should write a brief paragraph, saying what you think you will do for your project. This does not have to be final or polished. It is just to get you thinking, and to give me some idea of your interests, so I can help you develop your ideas.

Also , a bit more computing for discussion in class 10/29.

Homework 5: due 11/5
We will discuss this one in class, 11/5, if people want to. Otherwise, not.

Friday, November 12, there will be no homework due.
Instead, each student will talk for 4 to 5 minutes on what they are doing for their project (plus 2 minutes for questions/discussion). Explain the topic you are working on to the rest of the class.
Doing this will be a small part of the project grade.

Homework 6: due Friday 11/19.

Projects: will be due Wednesday 12/1.

Homework 7 will be due Monday 12/6
Note unusual day-- this is the penultimate class.
This homework contains exercises to be graded, and also some computing for discussion only. We'll discuss both (probably) in class on 12/6. Both are posted (11/21), but some of it may still need a bit of correcting.
