Grades will be calculated on a 100 point scale with conversion to decimal grades for computing of course average done according to the table below, which is based on the official UW grading system. It is important that you realize a passing grade is 62%. This means, for example, that if there were six graded items of work of equal weight, you could not receive no credit for three and 4.0 on the other three and expect to pass the course. Furthermore, the rule for this course is that you must submit all of the required written assignments to be eligible to receive credit in the course. For example, if three of four short essays are required, you cannot elect to do only two, since regardless of the mathematics of computing the grade average, you would thereby receive no credit (0.0). Submission of required work that is not your own or contains plagiarism means that you have not fulfilled the assignment; such submissions receive no credit, with the result being that you do not pass the course.
