Most of the images on the pages connected to Waugh's Central Asia bear a copyright tag; even in its absence, one should assume that the material is copyrighted. The pages themselves which DW has created also are copyrighted.
Linking to these materials or use of the images for any non-profit purpose is acceptable without any advance permission. If your intended usage is for commercial purposes, please request permission in advance from dwaugh@u.washington.edu. Please in all cases acknowledge the source of the photos and the fact that they are copyrighted.
Even if your intended usage is non-profit, DW would greatly appreciate your sending him a note and telling him how you are using the material. This can be helpful in his gaining necessary support to develop other material that could be of value on a public web site and gives him an idea whether it is worthwhile investing the time necessary to photoshop the images and put together the pages. He would be happy to provide copies of any of his photos (in formats other than the electronic ones on the web pages).
