Objects of Daily Life found along the Dunhuang Limes

Stein published photographs of some of these objects, now housed presumably in the British Museum. 

Objects in the first photoyumen14.jpg (28416 bytes) include a broom, an iron hoe, a beating stick, and a pottery jar.

 

 

 

Objects in the second photo include a tent peg (top); a measuring ruler (left) marked in decimal units; a fire starting board withyumen15.jpg (22344 bytes) holes for a fire drill; a lacquered wooden bowl.

 

 

The third photo depicts a hemp shoe (upper left), below it the wooden last for a boot, a key and then a lock (upper right), ayumen16.jpg (29036 bytes) bronze arrowhead (below the boot last), and a candle holder (bottom center).
