Support -- THANKS!

Joan and Richard Komen Endowed Chair  supports diverse student activities in the Daniel lab.  This endowment fuels nearly all of the recent intellectual ventures of the laboratory and has fostered new grants, student carreers, and general support for the Department of Biology. As of 2011, over 50 students have directly benefitted from this generous endowment!

The National Institutes of Health:  A collaborative grant with the Regnier Laboratory at the University of Washington Department of Bioengineering supports the computational simulations of many motor molecules in muscle.

National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Biological Informatics: Supports Simon Sponberg's studies of information processing in the flight motor control system of Manduca.

The Airforce Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR)  supports the research on compliant gyroscopes with particular interest in antennal mechanosensory processing and encoding characteristics of crane fly halteres.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) supports a new collaborative effort with the Voldman Laborator at MIT and the Hildebrand Laboratory at the University of Arizona focussing on the integration of MEMS technology with flight control circuits of insects.

The Office of Naval Research (ONR): A MURI grant involving Michael Dickinson (Caltech), Mark Willis (CWRU) and Chris Diorio (UW, CSE) aimed at understanding the neuromechanical basis of flight control in the Hawkmoth.
