Letter to the editor/JIL

Dear Sir/Madam,

In response to your comments about the lack of a Librarian Barbie, I would like to point out the long standing exhibit "Librarian Barbie through the Ages" which has been sponsored the Association for the Glorification of Librarians. This exhibit is currently touring the country and should soon be coming to a library near you. This exhibit has been lovingly prepared by the inmates (oops residents) of the Home for Burnt-out Reference Librarians. (Location of the home is secret so that those nasty patrons can't track the poor dear librarians down) . The displays include Barbie as a librarian throughout history as well as being dressed as some of our favorite librarians from television and films. See Barbie dressed as Katherine Hepburn in the Desk Set -- complete with a handout knitted cashmer minature sweater. Ken is also involved as Giles the librarian from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And since Librarian Barbie needs a place to work, you may also visit the Barbie Dream Library where the Marshmallow the Barbie library cat can be found sleeping in the stacks.

I sincerely hope you will let the world know about this exhibit. The residents of the home get such joy from sharing their talents. They are now collaborating on a project with Martha Stewart using traditional library supplies to decorate homes.

Thank you,

Esmeralda Van Heegan-Hoogan

President, Association for the Glorifications of Librarians.
