Find n to achieve (1-β) = 0.95 for α(2) = 0.05, δ = 2.0 cm and s2 = 8.44 cm2

 

Let       n = ∞:   n ≥ 8.44/22 (1.96+1.645)2 = 2.11*12.996 = 27.42, round up to n=28

            n=28:   n ≥ 2.11(2.052+1.703)2 = 29.75, round up to n=30

            n=30:   n ≥ 2.11(2.045+1.699)2 = 29.57, round up to n=30

 

n=30 repeats itself, so stay with that.
