Understanding Biosolids

The goal of this document is to clarify the science of biosolids recycling and make it understandable and thereby bring balance to public discussions of sustainability, sound stewardship, and waste recycling. Each chapter is a downloadable pdf file, and those concerning primary environmental effects also feature references to peer-reviewed journal articles.  All chapters are on the Internet and in the public domain; they are free to use and distribute, with proper reference.  The independent structure of each chapter has resulted in unavoidable replication of a few explanatory terms.  Chapters 2-11 include summary paragraphs that have been collected and expanded into a concluding summary chapter.

This document was funded by the Henry M. Jackson Foundation.
