Epidural Project
The purpose of this project is to improve the teaching of epidural placement for residents and nurse anesthetists.
Over my years as a resident, and now as a faculty member, I have observed a considerable degree of variability in the teaching of epidural placement. What I propose is essentially a primer in epidural placement - to give each resident and anesthetist a common foundation of knowledge and experience on which to build a lifetime of experience. Through this common experience, attending anesthesiologists will be able to count on a basic knowledge and experience set, which will hopefully improve the teaching, the learning, and of course patient safety and satisfaction.
This project is also largely related to my Teaching Scholars work, and represents my magnum opus for this course.
I am considerably indebted to Loreto Lollo for his great collaboration on this project, as well as the many anesthesiologists who have helped me to learn and fine tune my own skills along the way.
