Want to Avoid Brain Drain?
Brain Awareness Event -- Thursday, March 16, 2000
Want to have fun and learn more about your brain? Come to the Brain
Awareness Event on Thursday March 16 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This one
day
event at Pacific Science Center is a kick-off event for Brain Awareness
Week. This nationwide effort is organized by the Dana Alliance for
Brain Initiatives and the Society for Neuroscience and runs March 13-19.
Its goal is to promote the public and personal benefits of brain
research.
Highlights include:
- Brain Power exhibits: hold a real human brain, test your
cranial nerves, challenge your brain with optical illusions and explore
different intelligences with 30 hands-on, interactive exhibits (Room
301/302 near the Denny Way entrance). These exhibits are part of a
collaboration between Group Health Cooperative and Pacific Science
Center.
- Eric Chudler, creator of the Neuroscience for Kids home page and
Research Associate Professor at the University of Washington, will be
available with a comparative neuroanatomy display and interactive
surprises from 10 am to 2 pm.
- Washington Association for Biomedical Research will have an
information booth set up.
- Illusions Demonstration will take place at the Building 1
demonstration area at 12:15.
- Activities available periodically during the day will include the
Cow Eye Dissection Cart and the Skull Cart.
- Brain Games Exhibit will be in Building 2, near the entrance to the
Insect Village and Tropical Butterfly areas.
