Exhibits: Tell Me About It

Tell me about itDescription
This exhibit is comprised of two identical boxes. Each box contains exactly the same number, color and type of foam blocks. On the back panel of both boxes are the instructions for the activity and an explanation of its educational objective. The boxes are placed on a table back to back.

Activity
Two individuals sit across from one another, each with a box of foam blocks. The individuals should be able to interact easily, but should not be able to see what the other is doing. One person builds a structure and then describes the structure to the other person. The second person tries to build the same structure.

Educational Objective and Scientific Concept
Have you ever experienced the difficulty of giving a stranger directions to a remote destination? It is difficult to describe a pattern, or give directions to an individual who cannot see the pattern or visualize the roads. This exhibit demonstrates an individual's ability to utilize both spatial intelligence and linguistic intelligence to complete the activity. Individuals quickly learn how to pay close attention to details and learn to give specific instructions.
