The course is designed as an intensive graduate level seminar in American Urban History. Its purpose is to provide students with the opportunity to immerse in historical scholarship that addresses the social, political, technological and cultural forces that shaped the development of American cities. As a seminar the course emphasizes readings and discussions as the primary mode of learning.
