Carrie Sturts Dossick is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Construction Management in the College of Architecture and Urban Planning, and an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in the College of Engineering at the University of Washington. Dr. Dossick holds M.S. and Ph.D.degrees in Civil Engineering from Columbia University in the City of New York.

Dr. Dossick's main research interests include emerging technologies and building information modeling (BIM). Current projects include (1) technology and collaboration strategies for green building design and construction, (2) data collection technologies to create BIM for existing buildings, (3) printing and digital layout and (4) a project management simulation game known as the Virtual Coach. She has received funding from the National Science Foundation, U.S. Army, U.S. Department of Education, University of Washington Royalty Research Fund, and was awarded the College of Architecture and Urban Planning 2007 Dean's Development Fund. She has many publications including papers in the Journal of Construction Engineering and Management and the Journal of Management in Engineering, addressing the technology and business issues faced by the design and construction industry. In 2005, she was awarded the ASCE 2005 Best Peer Reviewed Paper of the Year for her work on Pricing Engineering Services.

Dr. Dossick is a primary faculty in the Pacific Northwest Center for Constrution Research and Education, where she is developing hands-on exercises for CM313 Construction Materials and Methods as well as a new course for Integrated Project Delivery called CM402 Design-Build Studio with BIM.  Dr. Dossick has developed a number of strategic faculty partnerships within the University of Washington, including the Departments of Communications and Civil Engineering  as well as industry partners such as Turner Construction, M.A. Mortenson Company and Kubota Matsushitadenko Exterior Works, Ltd. Dr. Dossick is a member of the Construction Research Council, the American Society of Civil Engineers' Construction Institute, the American Society for Engineering Education, the Associated Schools of Construction, the Society of American Military Engineers and the National Association of Women in Construction.

Dr. Dossick's interest in education is longstanding and is evidenced by her participation in the University of Washington's Faculty Fellows and Large Class Collegium. Dr. Dossick was recently awarded the Associated Schools of Construction 2007 National Teaching Award. Dr. Dossick teaches courses in the areas of Integrated Project Delivery, Project Management, Emerging Information Technologies, and Construction Materials and Methods.
