If you're interested in or following the flooding problems in WA State,
check out the 9 am Weekday show on www.kuow.org from today; it features
local officials and State policy makers, discussing the ongoing
problems with flooding in Lewis County.

Food critic on the air!
Anyone interested in U.S food policy and related issues might want to
take a listen to Michael Pollan's recent appearance on our very own
Seattle NPR station. Go to www.kuow.org and search for the 9 am
segment of "Weekday" on M, Jan. 12. He discusses Obama's pick for Sec.
of Ag., among other things.

Flooding
I regret to note that our discussions of flooding were timely; many
communities in western WA have experienced mudslides and flooding,
beginning yesterday (due to the heavy rains combined with warmer
temperatures, snowmelt, and etc.). I-5 is also again closed in Lewis
County - between Centralia and Chehalis. You can find more info on
almost any local news station / website or newspaper (Seattle P-I or
Times).
