Professor Jonathan Brogaard is an Assistant professor of Finance at the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business.  His research interests include high frequency trading, empirical asset pricing, and law and finance.  He has recently published in the Journal of Financial Economics and the Review of Financial Studies, among other journals.  He has worked with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the U.K. Financial Services Authority, and the Canadian Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada, in analyzing large datasets. Professor Brogaard’s work has been mentioned in several media outlets including the Economist, Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, New York Times, Businessweek, and Bloomberg. Professor Brogaard earned his undergraduate degree in Economics and Politics at Occidental College graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2006.  He completed a J.D. with an emphasis in tax law and a Ph.D. in Finance from Northwestern University before joining Foster in 2011.  In his free time, Professor Brogaard enjoys snowboarding, biking, and attending the theatre.
