Openings

The Boechler Research Group is always looking to recruit new talented undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctoral researchers. Please contact Prof. Boechler for current openings and include a cover letter and CV (or resume for undergraduate researchers).

Postdoctoral Research

While no specific positions are available as of this time, we are always open to exceptional candidates. Please send a copy of your CV, with a brief letter of introduction, and a list of three references to Prof. Boechler.

Graduate Research

(8/1/2016) We currently have an opening for one PhD student.

We are particularly interested in applicants intending to pursue a Ph.D. degree. Our research is multidisciplinary and we welcome applicants with backgrounds in engineering, materials science, physics, and applied math. Applicants to the UW Mechanical Engineering Department should include Prof. Boechler’s name in their application, and send him a CV and cover letter directly. Research positions are generally dependent on available funding, however applicants who have their own funding or who are interesting in applying for outside support are always welcome. Students from underrepresented groups in science and engineering are encouraged to contact Prof. Boechler by the end of September before the UW graduate school application deadline so that fellowships or additional funding can be applied for.

Note for Masters degree students: several projects are available for Masters students for course credit or on a volunteer basis. Please contact Prof. Boechler about current availabilities.

Undergraduate Research

We welcome applications from students in engineering, materials science, physics, or applied math. Currently we are also looking for undergraduate applicants from the UW School of Design. Applicants from underrepresented groups in science and engineering are particularly encouraged. A minimum 5-10 hours of per week commitment for research is expected during the academic year, and/or full-time during the summer. Research can be for course credit or hourly pay depending on the student’s preference and funding availability. Prospective applicants should send Prof. Boechler their resume (including GPA) and unofficial transcript.
