Bookworks or Artist's Books can be viewed in the intimate space of your lap and reproduced as multiples. They became popular in the 1970^Òs when artists were looking for art forms that could be produced inexpensively and be affordable to ordinary folks. Many socially engaged artists have created artist's books as a way to reach audiences who would not be as comfortable in an art gallery. One Size DOES NOT Fit All (1992) originally produced as photocopy multiple and titled: The Fat Book, One Size DOES NOT Fit All was published by Aigis Publications in 1993. The ink drawings, photocollages, and text deal with stories about women's complex relationships to their bodies. The book looks at the causes of body hate and suggests ways to heal it. Read more...
