Production and Service Systems Laboratory
Director: Benita Beamon, Ph.D.
Mission
To provide a knowledge center for production and service systems analysis and
design that will foster cooperation among interested members of the
academic and local communities, non-profit organizations, and commercial industry.
Activities
- Apply computer-based analytical tools, such as discrete-event
simulation, mathematical programming, and statistics to production and service
systems research, problems, and projects focusing on the following
areas:
- Supply and Service Chain Design/Improvement
- Facility Layout/Material Handling Systems Design
- Logistics and Transportation Systems
- Environmentally-Conscious Manufacturing
- Performance Measurement
How organizations can get involved
Do you have a problem in any of the above areas? The Production and
Service Systems
Laboratory at the University of
Washington can help!! We have the expertise and resources to
apply computer-based
analytical tools, including discrete-event simulation, mathematical
programming, and statistics to build database, spreadsheet, and
Internet-based solutions.
How does this process work? You present an idea for a project.
We then develop a proposal from your idea, which includes:
a budget, a projected timeline, and a statement of work. During
the proposal development stage and throughout the duration of the
project, we work closely with you to ensure that the project addresses
your needs. Project durations usually range between 6 and 12 months.
If this sounds interesting, call Benita Beamon at (206) 543-2308 or
e-mail (anti-spam) benita at u.washington.edu to discuss potential projects.
