About Brian Casserly:

I have lived in the Pacific Northwest since 1993. I earned my BA degree in history in 1998 and my Master's in 2001, both from the University of Washington. I received my Ph.D. in history from the UW in 2007. My doctoral dissertation was titled "Securing the Sound: The Evolution of Civilian-Military Relations in the Puget Sound Region, 1890-1984."

I have taught history at the University of Washington and at North Seattle, Bellevue, Everett, and Shoreline Community Colleges. See the left side of this page for links to some of the classes I have taught.

In addition, I have worked as a researcher on various projects related to Asian American, labor, and Pacific Northwest history for the National Park Service (see Seattle Times for one project I worked on), the Museum of History and Industry (Seattle), and other organizations. I also served as a historical consultant to KCTS TV's (Seattle's PBS affiliate) The War: Stories from the Pacific Northwest, produced in 2007 to accompany Ken Burns's documentary The War in the Pacific Northwest.
