August 4, 2008

Colleagues,

I am delighted to announce that Professor Greg Ettl has been awarded the James W. Ridgeway Professorship in Forest Resources effective September 16, 2008.

As indicated in my April 22 message to the faculty soliciting nominations for this award, the Ridgeway Professorship in Forest Resources was established to enhance the University's ability to attract and retain distinguished faculty in The College of Forest Resources. Candidates shall have demonstrated, through professional activities, expertise in forest management and/or sustainable resource sciences. In particular, candidates must address how they intend to contribute to the continuing development of the science of sustainability as it pertains to natural resource management.

All nominations were reviewed by the EFC and Dr. Ettl was recommended as the preferred candidate.
