Subject: Next Steps - CFR RCEP

Dear Bruce,

As you know, following the majority vote of the faculty of the College of Forest Resources to become an inaugural unit of the new College of the Environment, I have been working with the Faculty Senate to prepare for the review procedures found in Section 26-41(C) of the faculty code to enable this transition.

On February 9, 2009, the Senate Committee on Planning and Budgeting concurred with my recommendation to initiate a review for consolidation of the College of Forest Resources into the College of the Environment. I am now sending you a URL that contains the proposal and accompanying CFR-specific materials that will be provided to the Review Committee. Your faculty has an opportunity to review and comment on the CFR-specific information, so I am asking you to share this URL with your colleagues.

Please have your faculty contact Stephanie Harrington by April 2, 2009, if they have any comments on the CFR documentation that will accompany the proposal to transfer CFR into the College of the Environment.

Finally, with respect to a timeline for completing this review, the Review Committee has been confirmed by the Senate Executive Committee and they will commence their work at the beginning of April so that they can complete their review by the beginning of May. This will allow the process to be completed by the end of the academic year, so that if successful, CFR will be able to move into the new college on July 1, 2009. The members of the Review Committee include:

- John Schaufelberger, Construction Management, Committee Chair
- Kurt Johnson, Rehabilitation Medicine
- Robert Plotnick, Evans School of Public Affairs
- William Talbott, Philosophy
- Lillian McDermott, Physics
- Theresa Barker, GPSS Representative
- ASUW Representative, to be appointed

I greatly look forward to the advice that will result from this open review process,

Phyllis
