Research Interests

I am currently an assistant professor at the University of Washington, and my interests in Biostatistics include

·         Statistical techniques for environmental epidemiology

o   Spatio-temporal modeling of intra-urban variation in air pollution exposures (especially for MESA Air ).

o   Measurement error when individual exposures are predicted based on monitoring data.

o   Efficient methods to adjust for unmeasured temporal or spatial confounding.

·         Connections between Bayesian and frequentist methods of inference, particularly a Bayesian paradigm for model-robust regression that is analogous to estimating equations and associated "sandwich" standard error estimates.

See my CV for a detailed account of my experience before coming to the University of Washington and my current activities

·         From 1999 through 2006, I was a member of the Research Staff at MIT Lincoln Laboratory and worked on a variety of scientific policy related problems in tactical air defense and bio-terrorism defense.

·         Prior to that, I was a graduate student in Applied Mathematics at Brown University where I wrote my Ph.D. with Paul Dupuis in stochastic processes and numerical methods for optimal control problems.
