I’m curious about how knowledge networks work, evolve and act as information markets. Currently, I’m studying how intelligent algorithms can be designed to improve our understanding of link-analysis, trust and information cascades. I use data mining and pattern recognition techniques as my tools to develop these algorithmic solutions.
Broadly, my research interests span areas of data mining, data management and evolutionary computing, with an emphasis on online social networks, and mobile or pervasive environments including wireless sensor networks.
I enjoy teaching, advising, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. I find developing new approaches to enhance participation of non-traditional students to computing to be of great importance and interest. I’m also engaged in developing new programs and curricula in computing.
