2010 Designated Year of Cataloging Research

Kate Harcourt, in her capacity as chair of the ALCTS Implementation Group on the LCWG Report, made a motion to the ALCTS Board of Directors to designate 2010 as the Year of Cataloging Research. The motion was seconded by the ALCTS Cataloging and Classification Section and was approved unanimously by the Board. ALCTS Councilor Diane Dates Casey will present the resolution to the ALA Council at Midwinter for approval. To see the full text of the resolution, click here.

Call for Proposals for the ALA Research Series

The ALA Office for Research & Statistics invites manuscripts, book and article proposals for the peer reviewed ALA Research Series.The ALA Research Series expands the knowledge base of library research by publishing quantitative and/or qualitative research and analysis that addresses topics important to libraries, librarians and education in the profession–accessible, useful, practical, sustainable research. Just in time for the Year of Cataloging Research! OLAC (Online Audiovisual Catalogers) seeks applicants for the 2010 OLAC Research Grant. This annual award of up to $2,000 encourages research in the field of audiovisual cataloging.
