Children's Hospital Bicycle Facility Workshop and Bicycle Tour

Seattle Children’s Hospital is on a journey to reach 10 percent bicycle share by staff and doctors. Join this session to learn what they are doing (hint it includes carrots (monetary rewards), sticks (smart parking management), and more than $4M in facility improvements.) The session will include an interactive portion where you can participate in developing the next set of measures that can help Children’s achieve their goal.

Following the session, Paulo Nunes-Ueno, Director of Transportation and Sustainability for Children's Hospital will lead a 90 minute bike ride to Seattle Children’s campus to visit the various improvements made in the first phase of their Livable Streets Initiative, including a cycletrack, a greenway and other bicycle specific treatments.

Burke-Gilman Trail

Join several College of Built Environments alumni for a tour of Seattle's most celebrated and utilized bicycle facility - The Burke Gilman Trail! Travel seven miles from the University of Washington to the waters of the Puget Sound alongside breathtaking views of the city’s skyline, through the Center of the Universe, and experience one of the most popular political debates around bicycling in Seattle - the Burke Gilman's "missing link."

Ride details:
Distance: 7 miles
Estimated time: 1 hour (2 hour round trip to Gould), ride back on your own or join Kyle and Rachel for the Solstice Parade in Fremont
Elevation: almost no elevation gain
Meet: Gould Hall West entrance, 11am, Saturday, June 22nd

Bike Works

Come Join us for a ride to Bike Works in the Columbia City neighborhood of South Seattle!! Bike Works is an innovative nonprofit organization centered around bicycles that combines youth development, community engagement, bicycle recycling and a social enterprise bike shop to help build a sustainable and healthy community. Bike Works takes in over 4000 used bikes annually to refurbish and get back out onto the streets through our bike shop, programs and partnerships. We will visit the Bike Shop and the Programs & Offices location for a tour and have time to stop at the famous Columbia City Bakery for a coffee or treat.
